  1. Scatter chart can be used in several scenario like :
    1) If we need to visualize the multiple measure with one or many dimension then Scatter chart is really useful.
for example : If Measure Sales and profit are placed on shelves and Dimension Order ID is placed on Details , then scatter chart will show for which Order ID , What is Profit and sales.
Just to add more informative , We can place Category on color . In this case it will Scatter Chart will be display Sales and profit with Order ID and Category .
Concentration of points shows that Sales ans Profit are bigger here.
We can draw Trend lines which will show relationship between sales and profit. It will also show how sales and profits looks with different category when category is placed on color in scatter plot.

If Place Category of Row shelves then it will show scatter plot for each category.

  2. Scatter chart is one of the default charts in Tableau desktop and its commonly used to visualize correlation between two paired sets of numeric values, The big difference with a scatter plot is that both axes in the chart are measures rather than dimensions (one measure on the Column shelf and another measure on the Row shelf).

  3. Hi

Scatter charts are useful to compare two different measures. The big difference with a scatter plot is that both axes in the chart are measures rather than dimensions. And when we place two measures on the cards ,tableau automatically suggests the best suited visualization which is scatter plots.
