  • · A well designed dashboard will speed up the decision making for the organization.
    · And before we create the dashboard, the first step is to get the requirements from the user.
    · It is very important to ask the user about the business rules for the dashboard.
·Once the requirements are gathered, we analyze the requirements and ask the users about the KPIs’s and desired visualization
    · As most of the viewers scan the screen from left to right. Be sure to place your important information on the upper left corner of the dashboard.
.Next step is the data source preparation which depends on the business requirement.
·Tableau dashboards are set to use a fixed size and keep visualization at the size it will be viewed at.
    · Limit the number of views, use only muted colors, use filters which helps in bringing the necessary data for analysis.
·Having understood the business requirements and data we create draft version in Tableau using pen and paper or PowerPoint and get users feedback on the layout.

To build a dashboarding application, we will first need business requirements. After getting the requirements, we need details on the data sources, data refresh frequency and key filters.
We need KPI information from user too.
Inquire about the questions users are trying to answer using the dashboard.
    Understanding the security requirements.
Get requirements for the screen resolution.
    Review the existing reports.
